The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a woman identified as Mahama Aminat, also known as Akosua Serwaa Minat, for allegedly threatening President John Dramani Mahama in videos circulated on social media platform TikTok.
According to a statement released by the police on Facebook, the suspect allegedly made offensive remarks about the President and issued threats of invoking curses against his life in multiple videos posted online.
The police further alleged that the suspect incited members of the public to attack both the President and the First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama.
“The suspect was captured in some videos posted on TikTok making insulting remarks about the President, threatening the life of the President and inciting others to harm both the President and his wife,” the police statement said.
Authorities disclosed that the arrest followed a joint intelligence-led operation by the CVET and the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Department after the videos surfaced online on May 19, 2026.
The suspect was subsequently tracked and arrested on May 20, 2026, at Sekyere Zongo in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region.
Police say the suspect is currently in custody and will soon be arraigned before court to face legal proceedings.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to taking firm action against individuals who use social media platforms to issue threats, spread inciting content, or engage in conduct deemed capable of endangering public order and national security.
