The Central East Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Commander, Superintendent Hannah Adjei, has stated that robbery is no longer the most pressing security concern in Kasoa, signalling a significant shift in the area’s crime profile.
Kasoa, one of Ghana’s fastest-growing urban centres, has for years been associated with rising cases of daylight robbery and violent crime, earning a reputation as a hotspot for insecurity. However, according to Superintendent Adjei, that narrative is now outdated.
Speaking in an interview, she emphasised that the area has recorded no robbery incidents in the past two to three months.
“When was the last time you heard about a robbery case in Kasoa? Robbery is no longer the biggest challenge in Kasoa,” she stated.
Superintendent Adjei attributed the development to intensified efforts by the police, including increased visibility and strategic operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks.
According to her, the progress achieved is the result of deliberate and coordinated interventions by the police service.
“The crackdown on violent crime didn’t happen by accident. Through a combination of increased police visibility, intelligence-led operations, and the creation of the Central East Regional Police Command, the brazen robberies that once dominated the headlines have been successfully suppressed,” she explained.
The establishment of the Central East Regional Police Command, she noted, has enhanced operational efficiency and improved rapid response capabilities within Kasoa and its surrounding communities.
While acknowledging that security work is ongoing, Superintendent Adjei assured residents that the police remain committed to sustaining the gains made and ensuring lasting safety in the area.
