Paramount Chief Of Lawra Traditional Area, Naa Puowele Karbo III Passes On

The Binne/Karbo Royal Family has announced the passing of Lawra Naa, Naa Puowele Karbo III, the paramount chief of the Lawra Traditional Area, who transitioned to eternity in the early hours of 21st April 2026.According to an official public statement released by the Royal Family on 6th May 2026, the traditional ruler passed away peacefully, surrounded by close family members.

The statement described his death as a devastating loss not only to the Royal Family but also to the Lawra Traditional Area and the entire Upper West Region.“Lawra Naa was not merely a king; he was a unifier, a custodian of our rich Dagaare culture, and a bridge between tradition and modernity,” the statement read. His reign was marked by tireless advocacy for education, agricultural progress, and social harmony, with a lifelong dedication to the service of his people.

The Royal Family paid tribute to him as a loving father, disciplined mentor, and the pillar of their household, noting that his guidance had shaped generations and his principles would continue to guide the community.The statement also extended gratitude to the Chiefs of the Lawra Traditional Council, the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs, the National House of Chiefs, the Government of Ghana, the security services, and the people of Lawra for their prayers and support during his lifetime.Funeral arrangements and traditional rites will be announced in due course by the Lawra Traditional Council and the family.

The public has been asked to respect the family’s privacy as customary mourning protocols are observed. The statement concluded with a prayer: “May the soul of Lawra Naa, Naa Puowele Karbo III rest in the perfect peace of his Maker and ancestors. ”The announcement was signed by the Head of the Binne/Karbo Royal Family.
