NDC YOUTH ARE MY PRIMARY FOCUS – NYA Acting CEO, Osman Ayariga Declares

Published:

The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga, has stirred controversy by openly stating that his primary focus is on addressing the needs of the youth within the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking in a recent engagement, Ayariga made it clear that while his position requires him to serve the broader Ghanaian youth population, his first preference remains the NDC youth.

“In terms of catering to the needs of the youth, my first preference is the NDC youth,” he stated, sparking discussions about impartiality in youth-focused government institutions.

As a state institution, the NYA is mandated to serve the interests of all Ghanaian youth, regardless of political affiliation. Ayariga’s remarks have raised questions about whether his leadership will uphold this principle or lean towards a partisan approach.

Critics argue that such statements undermine the inclusivity expected of the NYA, which is supposed to champion policies and programs that benefit the entire youth demographic. Others, however, see his comments as a reflection of the political realities in Ghana’s governance structure, where appointments to public institutions often favor ruling party loyalists.

With youth unemployment and empowerment remaining critical national issues, many are watching closely to see how the NYA under Ayariga’s leadership will implement policies that address the challenges faced by all young people in Ghana. Whether his actions will align with his statement or reflect a broader, more inclusive agenda remains to be seen.
