Seven people have been confirmed dead following a fatal road crash involving a Hyundai Grace minibus on the Nkawkaw–Atibie Road in the Eastern Region. The incident occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026, at approximately 10:28 p.m., under circumstances that are yet to be determined by investigators.
Sources indicate that all seven occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, died instantly at the scene. The minibus, with registration number GR 5660-18, was extensively damaged, suggesting the severity of the impact.
The Nkawkaw Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has launched a full-scale investigation to establish the cause of the crash.
Emergency response teams from the Nkawkaw Divisional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service, with support from the police, arrived promptly at the scene. Personnel worked to extricate the bodies from the mangled vehicle.
The deceased have since been deposited at a nearby hospital morgue, while efforts are underway to identify the victims and notify their families.
Authorities say investigations remain ongoing to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
