Former Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, has been honoured with the Asantehene’s Gold Award (Pillar of Peace) by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The award, conferred by the Asantehene, recognises individuals who have demonstrated a strong commitment to peacebuilding, national unity, and social cohesion in Ghana.
In a post shared on his social media platforms, Dr Bawumia expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as both a privilege and a reflection of a shared national vision.
“It was a great pleasure to be honoured by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II with the Asantehene’s Gold Award (Pillar of Peace). This gesture highlights a shared commitment to unity, stability, and inclusive development in Ghana,” he stated.
He added that the honour would further motivate him to continue contributing to Ghana’s peace and development agenda.
“I remain appreciative to Otumfuo and continue to dedicate myself to fostering peace and progress in Ghana,” Dr Bawumia noted.
The Asantehene’s Gold Award is among the distinguished honours bestowed by the occupant of the Golden Stool, celebrating individuals whose efforts have significantly advanced peace, stability, and national development.
Dr Bawumia’s recognition adds to a list of notable personalities acknowledged by the Asantehene for their contributions toward strengthening Ghana’s democratic and social fabric.
