Samira Shakes Central Region for Bawumia

Published:

Former Second Lady Hajia Samira Bawumia has officially kicked off her campaign tour of the Central Region, as part of efforts to rally support for her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

The Central Region, home to Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Bawumia’s main contender in the 2023 primaries, has become a strategic battleground as the NPP prepares for another crucial internal election.

Samira Bawumia’s tour includes meetings with constituency executives, polling station delegates, and grassroots supporters, during which she is expected to articulate her husband’s vision for the party and the nation. Her campaign is reportedly focused on reaffirming Dr. Bawumia’s message of innovation, inclusiveness, and continuity.

Since rising to prominence as Ghana’s Second Lady in 2017, Samira Bawumia has earned a reputation as one of the NPP’s most charismatic and effective campaigners, particularly among women and young voters.

Samira Bawumia’s Central Region campaign marks the beginning of a nationwide outreach, with plans underway to extend her engagements to the Western, Ashanti, and Northern Regions in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is himself touring the Western Region, where he is meeting with party delegates as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen his support base and secure a decisive victory in the upcoming primaries.
