“Enough with the arrogance!” – NDC grassroots blast party appointees

Published:

Growing frustration appears to be brewing within the grassroots base of the governing National Democratic Congress as party supporters and activists openly criticise some government appointees over what they describe as arrogance, neglect and disconnect from the ordinary party faithful.

The backlash, which has intensified across social media platforms and local party discussions in recent weeks, reflects deepening dissatisfaction among grassroots supporters who believe some appointees have abandoned the very people who worked tirelessly to secure electoral victory for the party.

Several party activists have accused certain government officials of becoming inaccessible and dismissive shortly after assuming office, despite campaign promises of inclusiveness and grassroots empowerment.

“Enough with the arrogance,” some aggrieved supporters have declared, insisting that public office holders must remain humble and accountable to the party base.

According to some grassroots members, many loyal party supporters who sacrificed time, resources and energy during the election campaign now feel sidelined and ignored by individuals appointed into key government positions.

The concerns come at a time when internal conversations within the NDC are increasingly focusing on party unity, governance and the management of expectations among supporters following the party’s return to power.

Some activists argue that the attitude of certain appointees risks creating tension between the government and the grassroots, warning that continued dissatisfaction could weaken party cohesion ahead of future political contests.

Others have also expressed concern about what they describe as growing elitism among some officials, accusing them of distancing themselves from ordinary supporters and behaving as though they are untouchable.

The criticism has largely centred on complaints about lack of communication, limited engagement with party structures at the constituency level and perceived disrespect towards long-serving party members.

While some party executives have appealed for calm and unity, many grassroots supporters insist that appointees must remember that political power is temporary and should be exercised with respect, discipline and accountability.
