We are fully prepared for the NPP’s Presidential Primary on Saturday – EC

Published:

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it is fully prepared for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31, assuring stakeholders of a smooth and credible electoral process.

According to the Commission, all critical logistical and administrative arrangements are on track ahead of the internal party election.

Speaking to Citi News, the Deputy Director of Research at the EC, Fred Tetteh, disclosed that the distribution of election materials to various voting centres across the country will commence on Tuesday, January 27.

Mr Tetteh explained that key preparatory activities, including the printing of ballot papers, have been successfully completed under strict supervision and in the presence of representatives of the presidential aspirants.

“Preparations are far ahead, in terms of printing the ballot papers, in the presence of the aspirants’ representatives. That has been completed,” he said.

He further noted that the Commission has taken full custody of the ballot papers after printing, reinforcing the EC’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the process.

In addition, Mr Tetteh revealed that the EC has received the voter album for the party’s delegates, a crucial component for the conduct of the election.

“The EC, as of now, has taken full custody of the ballot papers from the printing house. We have also received the voter album of the delegates, and hopefully, by Tuesday at the latest, all the materials will be dispatched to the 16 regional capitals for onward transmission to the constituency centres,” he added.

The EC’s assurance comes amid heightened anticipation within the NPP as the party prepares to elect its flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.
