The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has lauded New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for what he describes as an unwavering display of sincerity and consistency throughout his political career.
Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s tour of the Akuapem North constituency as part of his Eastern Region engagements, Awuku said his long association with the former Vice President has revealed a personality that remains unchanged whether in public or private settings.
According to the MP, unlike some political figures who adopt a more approachable attitude only when seeking office, Dr. Bawumia has maintained a genuine, natural rapport with people over the years.
“There are people who suddenly become friendly when they need positions,” Awuku noted. “But Dr. Bawumia has never acted that way. His approach to people is natural, and he doesn’t pretend for political gain.”
Awuku further weighed in on ongoing internal party debates, particularly claims that Dr. Bawumia is a “stranger” within the NPP. He argued that if a long-serving Vice President could be labeled as such, then individuals with limited political experience or exposure would face even harsher criticisms.
Dr. Bawumia’s tour of the Eastern Region continues as he meets delegates, traditional leaders, and community groups to advance his case for the party’s flagbearership.
