The youth of the Ashanti Region are fed up, frustrated, and deeply disappointed by the deafening silence of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene , over the persistent and widespread allegations by Democracy hub, linking his office to illegal mining activities (galamsey).
In this region, rivers are turning brown, fertile lands are being destroyed, and communities are suffering — yet the very person entrusted to protect the region continues to remain silent while his name is mentioned in these serious conversations.
Let it be clear: The youth will not allow any public official — no matter how powerful — to hide behind silence when the future of our land is at stake.
As a young people committed to accountability and responsible leadership, we make this direct and unapologetic demand:
The Ashanti Regional Minister must step forward, face the people, and give clear answers. Not whispers. Not excuses. Not silence.
Leadership is not about occupying office.
Leadership is about earning trust, protecting the people, and defending the environment.
At a time when galamsey is destroying the very soul of our region, the youth expect the Regional Minister to show leadership — not evade questions.
This is an advocacy for truth. An advocacy for accountability. An advocacy for the future of Ashanti.
We will continue to raise our voices in every community, every district, and every platform until the truth is known and the air is cleared.
The Ashanti Region belongs to the people — NOT to individuals who think they can operate without accountability.
The youth are awake.
The youth are watching.
And the youth will not be silent.
