NPP Refers Petitions Against Owusu Bempah to National Council

Published:

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has referred petitions seeking the removal of its Deputy Director of Communications, Ernest Owusu Bempah, to the party’s National Council for consideration.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 24, 2025, the party confirmed that it had received formal complaints from some members raising concerns over Mr. Owusu Bempah’s conduct, describing it as a matter of “grave concern.”

The NPP explained that because Mr. Owusu Bempah’s appointment was made on the recommendation of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and later approved by the National Council, any decision on his position must be determined by the Council.

“The Party reaffirms its unwavering commitment to upholding discipline, safeguarding its values, and ensuring that all matters are handled with fairness and transparency,” the statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong read.

The petitions and their referral come at a time when the party is intensifying preparations for upcoming internal and national elections, with growing debates around discipline, accountability, and party cohesion.
