 Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Eastern Region have declared their support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s bid to become the party’s flagbearer.){kind=link}
Fifteen out of the twenty-three New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Eastern Region have declared their support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s bid to become the party’s flagbearer.
The endorsement was announced during Dr. Bawumia’s two-day campaign tour of the region.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues on Wednesday, September 24, the MP for Achiase, Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, said the former Vice President has the right credentials to lead the NPP to victory in the 2028 general elections.
“Dr. Bawumia has proven himself as a visionary leader with the competence and experience to take Ghana forward. We believe he is the most credible candidate to secure victory for the NPP in 2028,” Mr. Marfo said.
The 15 MPs who publicly endorsed Dr. Bawumia include:

4. Frank Annoh Dompreh (Nsawam Adoagyiri)

6. Kofi Okyere Baafi (New Juaben South)
7. Akwasi Acquah (Oda)
8. Kingsley Agyemang (Abuakwa South)
9. Nana Ampaw Addo-Frempong (Abuakwa North)
10. Kwame Appiah Kodua (Fanteakwa North)
11. Duke Ofori-Atta (Fanteakwa South)
12. Frank Asiedu Bekoe (Suhum)
13. Charles Asuako Owiredu (Abirem)
14. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo (Achiase)
15. Alex Agyare (Kade)
Dr. Bawumia, who served as Vice President from 2017 to 2025, is seeking to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections. He faces stiff competition from former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Abetifi MP Dr. Bryan Acheampong, and former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
