Some aggrieved members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region have locked up the offices of the District National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the District National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
The protest, led by the Constituency Youth Organiser of the Akan Constituency, stems from concerns that recent appointments to head the two state institutions were made in violation of the party’s internal arrangements.
According to the group, the positions of District Manager for NADMO and NHIA were expected to be reserved for constituency executives such as the secretary, organiser, or treasurer. They accused the Member of Parliament for the area, Ing. Yao Gomado, of sidelining the party’s leadership in the constituency and imposing his own preferred candidates.
Speaking to journalists, the group argued that the MP’s unilateral actions undermine party cohesion and disregard agreed procedures. They are therefore demanding the immediate withdrawal of the current district directors and a reconstitution of the appointments with the direct input and approval of the constituency secretary, organiser, or treasurer.
The incident has heightened tensions within the constituency, with party faithful warning that failure to resolve the matter could deepen divisions ahead of the 2028 elections.
