Former Vice President and 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called for greater unity within the NPP as he continues his nationwide Thank You Tour following the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking to enthusiastic party supporters and executives in the Western Region, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the need for discipline and solidarity as the NPP looks to regroup and reenergize for future contests. He cautioned against internal wrangling and the use of divisive language, reminding members of the costly lessons from the 2024 campaign.
“As members of the great NPP, we should not make damaging statements against each other,” Dr. Bawumia said. “We all witnessed how the NDC used comments made during our internal contest to hurt our campaign in 2024. We must not allow that to happen again.”
Dr. Bawumia, who has been warmly received throughout his Thank You Tour, expressed deep appreciation to the party’s grassroots, regional executives, and the wider Ghanaian electorate for their support and trust throughout his political journey. He urged members to remain focused and committed to the party’s core principles, stressing that the NPP’s resilience has always been rooted in unity and collective purpose.
“We have achieved a lot together, and although the 2024 outcome was not what we desired, we must stay committed to the ideals of service, development, and freedom. Our best days are still ahead,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia also extended gratitude to Ghanaians for their participation in the democratic process, affirming his belief in the strength and future of Ghana’s democracy.
