IMANI Africa President Applauds Bawumia’s Digitalisation Legacy

Published:

President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has commended the success of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s digitalisation agenda, stating that recent economic data confirms the effectiveness of his vision. According to Mr. Cudjoe, the government’s investment in digital infrastructure has significantly enhanced efficiency across various sectors, challenging earlier doubts about its impact.

Citing data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), he noted that higher economic growth in 2024 was partly driven by digitalisation, reinforcing earlier remarks made by former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin.

“Based on the GSS data, Dr. Amin was correct in stating that Bawumia’s digitalisation initiatives contributed to the country’s improved economic performance,” Mr. Cudjoe remarked.

He highlighted advancements in service delivery, financial inclusion, and governance as key areas where digital reforms have made a significant impact.

“Bawumia’s digitalisation drive has yielded tangible results, making processes easier for businesses and citizens alike,” he added.

Mr. Cudjoe acknowledged that initial skepticism surrounded the feasibility of large-scale digital reforms in Ghana. However, he argued that the nation’s current progress in digital transformation proves that the country is moving in the right direction.

Despite these achievements, he also identified challenges that still need to be addressed, particularly cybersecurity and internet accessibility in rural areas.

Mr. Cudjoe urged the current government to tackle these challenges to ensure that the benefits of digitalisation are fully harnessed and accessible to all Ghanaians.

“To build on the successes of digitalisation, we must strengthen cybersecurity measures and expand internet access to rural areas, ensuring inclusive technological progress,” he emphasized.
