The Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has withdrawn charges against Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, his wife, and a third individual in connection with the tragic car crash involving their 16-year-old son. The teenager, who was behind the wheel at the time of the accident, crashed into another vehicle in East Legon, leading to the deaths of two teenagers.
The three accused were initially charged with permitting an unlicensed person to drive. However, on Monday, February 17, 2025, the state informed the court of its decision to drop the charges to allow for further investigations into the incident.
The 16-year-old son has already been convicted of manslaughter for his role in the crash. Authorities now seek to determine the next steps regarding the involvement of Amoako, his wife, and the third individual.
The court, after hearing the state’s request, officially struck out the charges against the three. This move, according to the state, will enable the police to gather additional evidence and decide on the appropriate legal actions moving forward.
