Head coach of the Ghana national football team, Otto Addo, has insisted his team’s full attention is on their upcoming friendly against Austria national football team, downplaying any immediate focus on their high-profile encounter with Germany national football team.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s game in Vienna, Addo emphasised that modern football demands complete concentration, warning against underestimating any opponent.
“To be honest, in modern-day football, I think everyone can beat everyone,” he said. “We saw it at the last World Cup, there are no teams to be underrated.”
While acknowledging Germany’s global stature, Addo made it clear that his side is not looking beyond their first assignment.
“Surely, Germany is high profile, but to be honest, I’m not thinking about Germany now. For us, it’s full focus on Austria. We want to win every match we play; this is for sure,” he stated.
The coach revealed that his technical team has conducted a detailed analysis of the Austrian side and is confident the players are well-prepared for the challenge ahead.
“We saw what they do, we’ve analysed them well, and I’m very hopeful that the players will deliver. It’s about execution. It will be an intense game, and this is what we’re looking forward to,” Addo added.
The Black Stars will face Austria Today before travelling to Stuttgart to take on Germany on Monday in what are expected to be crucial preparatory matches ahead of upcoming World Cup assignments.
For Addo, however, the approach remains straightforward: “After the match, we will think about Germany.”
