CAF Awards 2024: Aziz Issah nominated for Young Player of the Year

Ghanaian forward Abdul Aziz Issah has been shortlisted for the Young Player of the Year and the Inter club player of the year at the 2024 CAF Awards, a month after his move to FC Barcelona B team. The 18-year-old  is among 10 players nominated for the prestigious award which is scheduled for December in Morocco. The CAF Awards 2024 will be hosted in Marrakech, Morocco, on 16 December 2024.

Issah was instrumental for Dreams FC last season as he guided the club to a semifinal finish in the CAF Confederation Cup. He netted four goals and provided two assists in 10 games. The attacking midfielder was also part of the Black Satellites squad that won gold at the 2023 African Games which was held in Ghana earlier this year.

Ten players remain in contention for the topmost Player of the Year including last year’s winner Victor Osimhen of Nigeria as Ghanaian players missed in the nominations for the ultimate award. The Interclub Player of the Year has 10 contenders whilst Goalkeeper of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, National Team of the Year and Club of the Year has five each.

The ultimate winner of each category will be decided after votes from a voting panel consisting of CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, Head Coaches & Captains of Member Associations and clubs involved in the group stages of the Interclub competitions.
