Popular Ghanaian comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney popularly known as DKB, has been trending on social media for his explanation of NDC’s 24hr economy policy. DKB, who has openly endorsed the flagbearer of National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has for some time now been making ‘comedy’ skits to explain the policy of the NDC.
In an earlier video skit, DKB depicted the 24hr economy as a policy that allows three different employees of the same institution work for eight hours each. In the video, the first person sought to take bribe for his work done before handing it over to him (DKB). Since the institution runs a shift system, DKB had to wait for the other employee for the next shift to come for him to take his work without taking bribe. DKB concluded that with Mahama’s 24hr economy, it curbs the bribe and corruption. In the video he further said, under the 24hr economy you can wait for another employee of the shift system if one ask for a bribe from you.
His recent video which further explains the ‘skeptical’ 24hr economy dropped yesterday, which has caused a bombshell on social media. In the video, a woman asked money from DKB who had a cheque of GHS200. DKB was seen procrastinating going to bank, telling the woman not to worry. He later slept, woke up at 2am to drive to the bank to cash the cheque. He depicted that with the 24hr economy, Ghanaians will be able to withdraw a cheque at the bank even if it is 2am.
This has caused myriad views among social media enthusiasts. DKB has received a lot of social media backlash for his inability to use comedy skits to explain NDC’s 24hr economy. Many NDC fanatics also joined the backlash saying he wasn’t sanctioned by the party to put out such a ‘sham’ advert to explain the ‘game changer’ 24hr economy.
