Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to reinforce their commitment to unity and collective purpose, as the party prepares for the critical 2024 general elections. Speaking at the NPP’s 2025 National Delegates Conference at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Dr. Bawumia called on delegates and party supporters to remember the roots of the party’s strength, solidarity and inclusion
“In times like these, we should be focused on strengthening our bonds of unity and reinvesting in the ties that bind us,” he said. “Our foundation and our strength have always been in building a united party. We have been the party that has over the years built the broadest coalition of citizens. Not just to win but to govern.”
The Vice President’s comments were met with resounding applause from the thousands of delegates and party faithful gathered at the stadium. His message struck a chord with attendees amid internal party realignments and the high stakes of the upcoming elections.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the NPP’s historical success has been rooted in its ability to transcend narrow divides and unite people from all walks of life across ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds.
“This is not the time for divisions or distractions,” he added. “This is the time to build, to rally, to organize, and to remind ourselves that the NPP is not just a political machine, but a movement with a mission to govern responsibly for all Ghanaians.”
The event drew national attention, with regional party executives, national officers, Members of Parliament, and grassroots organizers in attendance. The atmosphere was charged with a renewed sense of purpose as speakers emphasized unity, discipline, and strategic planning heading into the election year.
