MCE sues NDC Assembly member for calling him a Thief

Published:

A Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has taken legal action against a National Democratic Congress (NDC) assembly member for allegedly calling him a “thief,” a comment the MCE describes as defamatory and damaging to his reputation.

According to court documents filed at the appropriate jurisdiction, the MCE is seeking redress after the assembly member allegedly made the remark during a public engagement and subsequently repeated it in political discussions within the municipality.

The plaintiff contends that the statement was false, malicious, and intended to lower his standing in the eyes of the public.

The MCE argues that the accusation has caused significant harm to his personal integrity and public image, particularly given his position as a government appointee entrusted with managing public resources. He is therefore asking the court for damages, a public retraction, and an apology.
