Let’s win together to build a stronger NPP – Bawumia to NPP delegates

Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has appealed to delegates of the party to rally behind him ahead of the upcoming presidential primaries, pledging to rebuild a stronger and more inclusive party that all members can be proud of.

In a Facebook post ahead of the NPP’s Presidential Primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026, Dr. Bawumia stated that a victory for him would represent a collective win for the entire party and mark the beginning of a renewed NPP capable of regaining power and serving the nation effectively.

“Let’s win together on January 31, 2026, for a greater NPP for all, which will win and be of immense service to Ghana again,” he wrote.

Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the critical role party members play in the NPP’s electoral successes but expressed concern about the persistent neglect of grassroots supporters, particularly those at the local level. He described this challenge as one of the key issues he intends to address if given the mandate.

Reflecting on his long years of engagement within the party, Dr. Bawumia noted that he has toured and campaigned in every constituency at least six times across five general elections over the past 18 years, giving him a deep understanding of the sacrifices and contributions of party faithful.

“I am well placed to understand the immense contributions our party faithful can make towards the revival and success of our party when they are better acknowledged, appreciated and rewarded,” he stated.

As part of his vision for a more inclusive party, Dr. Bawumia proposed the creation of a comprehensive digital database for all party members at every level. According to him, the system will enable the digital registration of members, proper documentation of their contributions, and the submission of welfare concerns. He added that constituency-based monitoring units will work closely with a central unit to ensure that members’ concerns are promptly addressed.

Dr. Bawumia also proposed the decentralisation of appointments in a future NPP government, indicating that at least 10 appointments per constituency would be reserved for qualified and deserving party members nominated by their constituencies. He explained that this approach would promote inclusion and ensure that appointees remain accountable to their communities.

Additionally, the former Vice President outlined plans to introduce a constituency-based national budget, aimed at guaranteeing balanced development and ensuring that no constituency is left behind in national development efforts.

Dr. Bawumia concluded by thanking party supporters, particularly in the Ashanti Region, for their continued support and called for unity and collective effort as the party prepares for the primaries and future elections.
