Ketu South NDC Show Support For Asiedu Nketia

Published:

Thousands of enthusiastic supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) filled the Hand of God Church of All Nations in Dzodze, Ketu North Municipality, to welcome the party’s National Chairman, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, as he continued his nationwide Thank You Tour.

The event, which drew traditional leaders, constituency and branch executives, party loyalists, and well-wishers, turned the quiet town of Dzodze into a sea of red, green, and black as supporters celebrated the Chairman’s visit.

Addressing the charged crowd, Mr. Asiedu Nketia—popularly known as General Mosquito—said the purpose of the tour was to express gratitude to the party’s grassroots, particularly branch executives, whose tireless work and loyalty he said were instrumental in the NDC’s return to power.

“Elections are won at the branch level, and it is the dedication of our branch executives that keeps this party strong,” he emphasized.
“When the time comes to renew our leadership structures, ensure that those who seek to undermine your good work are replaced with serious, dedicated people.”

Call for Unity and Merit-Based Leadership

Mr. Asiedu Nketia urged party members to remain united, diligent, and loyal, cautioning against internal sabotage and complacency. He said future restructuring within the NDC must be based on merit, hard work, and commitment rather than personal interests.

He encouraged members to take pride in their political identity, remarking that,

“Today, those who once ran away from the NDC are now looking for ways to get NDC membership cards. So, be proud that you are NDC.”

The NDC Chairman also commended the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North for their collaboration in promoting development in the municipality.

“Your MP has a bright future ahead. His performance in Parliament gives us confidence in his leadership, so continue to support him to excel,” he added.

A Gesture of Humility and Accountability

Mr. Asiedu Nketia described his post-election outreach as a demonstration of humility and accountability, saying it was rare for a national party chairman to personally embark on such a comprehensive grassroots appreciation tour.

“This act of humility sets a new standard in political leadership,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to tackling unemployment and promoting youth empowerment through sustainable job creation and entrepreneurship initiatives.

“We are implementing programmes to create sustainable jobs and improve livelihoods,” he said, adding that Ketu North had made “significant contributions” to national governance with many of its sons and daughters now serving at regional and national levels.

Traditional Leaders Pledge Support

Togbui Dzoku V, Paramount Chief and President of the Dzodze Traditional Council, commended the NDC leadership for recognising the contributions of the people of Ketu North.

He pledged the continued cooperation of traditional authorities towards the development of the municipality and the broader Volta Region.

“We appreciate the NDC leadership for acknowledging our efforts and assure our continued support for the region’s development,” Togbui Dzoku V said.

The Dzodze stop forms part of Asiedu Nketia’s nationwide tour aimed at strengthening party structures, energising the base, and thanking supporters for their role in the NDC’s electoral success
