I support Bawumia for 2028 NPP Flagbearer -Adwoa Safo

Published:

Honourable Adwoa Safo, a former legislator, has expressed her support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in a call for a second opportunity for the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2024 elections to serve as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections.

She contends that the NPP and the nation have a history of successful elections of Presidents who contested multiple times before securing victory. She cites former President Kufour’s two attempts before winning on his second attempt, former President Akufo-Addo’s third attempt, and President Atta Mills’s two attempts on the NDC ticket before being elected in 2008.

Adwoa Safo asserts that every individual deserves a second chance and believes that Dr. Bawumia should be afforded another opportunity. She acknowledges that when the party presented Nana Akufo-Addo in the first and second elections, the outcomes were not favourable. However, the party regained power on the third attempt when Akufo-Addo addressed the unfounded conspiracies surrounding his candidacy and character.

Adwoa Safo questions why the party should reconsider Dr. Bawumia after only one attempt, particularly given the acknowledgment of the wrongdoings and sins committed by the Akufo-Addo government against Ghanaians and the subsequent complaints raised by some members of Parliament, who were subsequently targeted to lose their parliamentary primaries. Adwoa Safo inquires as to why Dr. Bawumia is not permitted to be presented again for a second attempt.
