The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the Dormaa West Constituency, Kwame Owusu, has expressed strong confidence in the leadership of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as a man “destined to win” and the right choice to lead the party into the next general elections.
Speaking to party supporters, Mr. Owusu commended Dr. Bawumia’s calm temperament, unifying spirit, and strategic leadership style, which he believes have restored stability and renewed hope within the NPP following internal challenges in the lead-up to the 2024 flagbearership contest.
“If we are to be truthful, before Dr. Bawumia was elected as flagbearer ahead of the 2024 polls, the party was in disarray,” he said. “I believe we would not have secured more than 20 per cent of the votes had the elections been held at that time.”
Mr. Owusu credited the national executives for their decision to organize an early congress, noting that it has given the flagbearer ample time to mobilize grassroots support and build momentum across the country.
“We also want to thank the party’s leadership for organizing an early congress. This will give him enough time to prepare and campaign effectively,” he added.
Building Momentum for 2028
The Dormaa West chairman’s comments reflect a growing sense of optimism within the NPP that the flagbearer’s inclusive leadership approach will resonate with both party members and the wider electorate.
Dr. Bawumia, who officially began his nationwide campaign earlier this month, has emphasized themes of economic transformation, digital innovation, and inclusive governance, promising to build on the party’s record while addressing key national challenges.
