Don’t give up, stay in the race – Hassan Tampuli to Bawumia’s Competitors

Published:

Member of Parliament for Gushegu, Hassan Tampuli, has called on the aspirants in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race, competing against Dr. Bawumia to remain in the contest, insisting that no candidate should be allowed to withdraw at this crucial stage.

Speaking on Channel One, Hon. Tampuli, who is among the 63 NPP Minority MPs that recently endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid, said the internal competition has invigorated the party’s grassroots and should continue to its conclusion.

“As a matter of fact, we’re reliably informed that some of the aspirants actually want to quit the race; but it is too late,” he stated.
“We’ll not even allow anybody to quit the race. Everybody must stay in the race. We must go all the way. It is getting very exciting; it’s gingering the base of the party and energising the base.”

Mr. Tampuli emphasized that while the contest has boosted morale within the party, it must be conducted with decorum and mutual respect among all aspirants.

“All we need to do is to make it clean, devoid of insults, devoid of innuendos, and not casting aspersions on one aspirant or the other,” he said.
“All of them are noble people and we think that they’re good enough, but we believe very strongly that it is time for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”

His comments come a day after 63 NPP Minority MPs held a press conference in Accra to publicly declare their support for Dr. Bawumia, citing his leadership qualities, discipline, and readiness to serve.

At the event, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, MP for Mampong, who spoke on behalf of the group, described Dr. Bawumia as representing “the next chapter of the New Patriotic Party’s vision, a future built on competence, innovation, unity, and hope.”
