Bryan & Ken ‘Fight’ It All For Distance 2nd Position On Saturday

Published:

New polling data released by Global Info Analytics has placed Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and Dr. Bryan Acheampong in second and third positions respectively in the race for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential slot, highlighting shifting dynamics ahead of the party’s January 31 primaries.

According to the Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, Mussa Dankwa, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia leads the field with 57 percent, while Kennedy Agyapong follows with 28 percent. Dr. Bryan Acheampong has climbed to 13 percent, with Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum polling 2 percent and Kwabena Agyepong registering 0 percent.

The nationwide survey was conducted among 10,133 respondents across 272 constituencies using computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI). The poll carries a 99.9 percent confidence level with a margin of error of ±1.57 percent, while the final predictive model—which factors in historical delegate behaviour and undecided voters—has a ±3.0 percent margin of error.

Despite trailing the front-runner, Kennedy Agyapong’s 28 percent showing confirms his firm grip on a sizeable segment of the party’s delegate base. Analysts say his appeal remains particularly strong in parts of the Central and Ashanti Regions, where his confrontational and anti-establishment messaging continues to resonate with delegates who feel sidelined by the party’s central leadership.

One of the most striking developments in the final January data is the rapid rise of Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the Abetifi MP and former Minister for Food and Agriculture. Acheampong has surged from single-digit support levels in late 2025 to 13 percent in the final poll.

While Dr. Bawumia’s commanding lead is anchored in a near-clean sweep of the five Northern regions, the race for second and third remains influenced by regional loyalties and messaging styles. Kennedy Agyapong’s dominance in sections of the Central and Ashanti Regions contrasts with Acheampong’s expanding appeal across multiple regions, driven by his emphasis on unity and continuity.
