Bawumia Leads NPP Flagbearer Race With 52% Support – Global Info Analytics Poll

Published:

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has taken a commanding lead in the race to become the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections, according to the latest poll by Global Info Analytics.

The survey, released on Thursday, August 21, 2025, shows Dr. Bawumia with 52% support among party delegates—more than triple that of his closest rival, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, who garnered 17%.

Other aspirants trail significantly, with Food and Agriculture Minister Dr. Bryan Acheampong polling 3%, former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum at 1%, and former General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo each recording less than 1%.

The poll also revealed that 10% of delegates remain undecided, while 9% declined to disclose their preferred candidate, suggesting room for potential shifts before the primaries.

Conducted between August 12 and 20, the survey interviewed 2,656 NPP delegates across 263 constituencies, with 2,560 providing complete responses. It was carried out via computer-assisted telephone interviews and has a confidence level of 99% with a margin of error of ±2.44%.

While the results highlight Dr. Bawumia’s clear frontrunner status, political analysts note that securing the undecided bloc will be crucial in determining the final outcome of the primaries.
