The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed the Headmaster of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School, Mr. Joshua Vidzro, to step aside with immediate effect following allegations of sexual misconduct involving some female students at the school.
The directive, issued on December 6, 2025, forms part of an administrative measure aimed at safeguarding the integrity of ongoing investigations. According to the GES, the decision is necessary to prevent any real or perceived interference as authorities look into the matter.
Mr. Vidzro has been instructed to formally hand over all official duties, responsibilities, records, and school property under his care to the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North. He is expected to vacate the school premises on Monday, December 8, 2025, after the handover.
The GES emphasized that the interdiction is not a declaration of guilt but a procedural step to ensure due process. “For the avoidance of doubt, this directive does not constitute a determination or presumption of guilt on your part, but is an administrative measure issued in furtherance of due process and institutional accountability,” the statement clarified.
As part of the conditions of the interdiction, the Headmaster is required to remain available to assist investigators at all times. He has also been barred from making any direct or indirect contact with the female students involved in the case, as well as any potential witnesses.
In the interim, the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North has been tasked with overseeing the administration and management of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School until further notice.
The GES reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment across all educational institutions in the country, adding that it will not hesitate to take action where necessary to uphold professional standards and protect students.
