OUR JOB DOESN’T COME WITH SSNIT CONTRIBUTIONS- Pope Skinny

Published:

In comparison of the Ghanaian Entertainment Industry to that of the West, Ghanaian Musician, Pope Skinny has revealed that the job of Showbiz here in Ghana does not come with basic obligations like SSNIT contributions to cater for them in their old age which is a major contribution to why lots of celebrities will resort to begging in their old age or in times of sickness.

“If you look at all these, you will advise yourself, leave and go pay your social security contributions in the West, where the scheme is less corrupt and they will take care of you till you die,” he lamented.

The Hiplife star made these revelations on Accra FM’s ‘Ayekoo Ayekoo’ Entertainment Show when he spoke to Nana Romeo yesterday.

He also bemoaned Ghana’s creative arts system or the lack thereof makes life financially unbearable for creatives because if you don’t have a hit-song, you will go hungry.

“Even if you save money, you will end up using the savings to pay for music videos and other logistics. Even with endorsement deals, how often does it come and many do not even get that privilege” he added.

Pope Skinny strongly opposed the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) ban on alcohol endorsements by celebrities which was recently upheld by Supreme Court.
