Mahama’s Big Push Suffers a Blow as Ghana’s Crude Oil Production Drops

Published:

Ghana’s three offshore producing fields – Jubilee, TEN, and SGN recorded a total crude oil production of 18,415,410.74 barrels in H1 2025. This output reflects a 25.92 percent decline compared to the 24,857,477.52 barrels produced during H1 2024

Ghana’s total gas production declined by 6.7 percent from 139,866.92 Million Standard Cubic Feet(MMSCF) in H1 2024 to 130,466.01 MMSCF of gas in H1 2025.

In H1 2025 no expenditure was incurred under Government’s “Big Push” program towards Infrastructure Development from petroleum revenue, even though an ABFA of USD146.36 million was allocated.

Mahama’s Big Push Initiative faces a major hurdle as total lodgment made into the Petroleum Holding Fund plummets to USD370.34 million in H1 2025 compared with USD 840.76 million for the same period in 2024. This represents a 56 percent decline compared with the figure for H1 2024
