A tragic helicopter crash in Tema Community One has claimed the lives of two individuals after the aircraft plunged into a school park on Monday, March 16.
The helicopter reportedly fell from the sky and crashed into the Oninku Drive School Park, sending shockwaves through the community and leaving residents in a state of panic.
Emergency response teams from the Ghana National Fire Service quickly arrived at the scene to contain the fire that erupted following the impact. Firefighters worked swiftly to douse the flames and prevent further damage.
Personnel from the Ghana Police Service also assisted in securing the area and supporting rescue operations. The combined efforts of the emergency teams led to the retrieval of the charred bodies of the two victims on board the aircraft.
Mr. Ahmed Abdullia, Assemblyman for the Kwesi Plange Electoral Area, confirmed the incident and provided reassurance that no students were harmed in the crash.
According to him, despite the helicopter going down within a school vicinity, all students were safe and accounted for, averting what could have been a far more devastating tragedy.
The cause of the crash remains unknown at this stage, and authorities are expected to launch a full investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
