NDC Anger Boils Over GoldBod Jewellery–”Nana Aba Deal”

Published:

GoldBod Jewellery, a subsidiary of the Ghana Gold Board, has come under intense scrutiny on social media following the circulation of videos and images indicating that the company sponsored a private women’s empowerment event held in the United Kingdom.

The controversy erupted after a photo surfaced online showing GoldBod Jewellery listed among sponsors of the recently concluded Woman of Valor programme, which took place on March 7, 2026, at the London Hilton on Park Lane in London.

The event, founded by Ghanaian broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah, brought together women from various professional and social backgrounds to network, share experiences, and celebrate their achievements ahead of International Women’s Day.

However, the sponsorship has sparked criticism across several social media platforms, with many NDC fanatics questioning the involvement of a state-linked institution in what they describe as a private and exclusive event.

Some argued that although the programme was promoted as a women’s empowerment initiative, it was not accessible to the general public, raising concerns about its inclusivity.

Others also questioned whether it was appropriate for a government-affiliated entity such as GoldBod Jewellery to fund or sponsor such an event, suggesting that public institutions should prioritize initiatives that directly benefit a broader segment of the population.

The debate has since intensified online, with discussions focusing on issues of public accountability, the role of state-owned institutions in private events, and the transparency surrounding sponsorship decisions.

As the backlash grows, GoldBod Jewellery, its parent body the Ghana Gold Board, and organisers of the Woman of Valor event continue to face widespread criticism from sections of the public on social media.
