Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has widened his lead in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer race, according to the latest survey by Global Info Analytics.
Executive Director of the research firm, Mussa Dankwah, revealed that Dr. Bawumia gained an additional three percentage points between December and January, consolidating his position at the top of the race. In contrast, Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, recorded a significant decline, dropping by five percentage points to 32.5%.
The findings suggest a shifting dynamic within the NPP’s internal contest, with Dr. Bawumia’s support base expanding while Mr. Agyapong’s momentum appears to be slowing.
Although the survey did not detail the exact factors driving the changes, political observers attribute Dr. Bawumia’s gains to sustained grassroots engagement and messaging around economic recovery and digital transformation, themes central to his campaign.
