Published:

Hajia Samira Bawumia has successfully concluded a week-long campaign tour of the Ashanti Region aimed at mobilising grassroots support for her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the upcoming NPP presidential primaries.

The tour, which ran from approximately January 5 to January 11, 2026, formed part of efforts to strengthen the campaign ahead of the NPP’s internal elections scheduled for January 31, 2026.

During the tour, the former Second Lady engaged extensively with party delegates, constituency and regional executives, opinion leaders, and the general public across several constituencies in the region. Her engagements focused on unity within the party, grassroots mobilisation, and highlighting the vision and leadership credentials of Dr. Bawumia.

Throughout her interactions, Hajia Samira Bawumia emphasised that Dr. Bawumia remains the most experienced and nationally appealing candidate capable of leading the NPP to victory. She urged party faithful to remain united and focused as the party prepares for the crucial internal contest.

The tour was marked by lively and emotional moments, including vibrant engagements with supporters and interactions with popular TikTok personalities, which drew large crowds and boosted youth participation. Some supporters were visibly moved by the campaign message and vision outlined for a Bawumia-led administration.

Constituencies visited during the tour included Asante Akim Central, Juaben, Kwadaso, Offinso North and South, and Manhyia South, among others.
