We cannot be intimidated – Kwadaso NPP MP fires NDC MPs

Published:

The Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Professor Kingsley Nyarko, has issued a strong defence of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) minority in Parliament, insisting that no amount of intimidation or political pressure will deter the group.

Speaking amidst heightened political tensions, Prof. Nyarko accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of resorting to what he described as “intimidation, brute force, and crude tactics” in dealing with the NPP minority, despite holding a commanding majority in the House.

“The NDC, with all their majority in Parliament, ‘the so-called super majority’, cannot handle the NPP, the mighty minority, unless they resort to intimidation, brute force, and crude tactics. Isn’t this strange?” he questioned.

“Let somebody tell them that they cannot intimidate the minority. They cannot intimidate the leader of the minority, Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin,” Prof. Nyarko said. “Who told them that their inferior tactics, unaccommodating posturing, and intolerant nature will cow us into submission? That will not happen.”

He stressed that the NPP minority remains resolute and will continue to withstand what he describes as orchestrated attacks from the majority.

“We shall stand resolute, solid, and repel their orchestrated onslaughts as we expose their incompetence, short-sightedness, and lack of ideas and vision to run the affairs of the country,” he stated.

The Kwadaso MP also took aim at the John Mahama-led administration, claiming it has failed to implement any meaningful or transformational policies since taking office nearly 11 months ago.

“This government hasn’t been able to implement a single transformational policy that can yield positive gains in the economy. All we hear is ‘reset, reset, reset.’ We don’t know what exactly they are resetting,” he argued.

Prof. Nyarko further accused the government of engaging in impunity, undermining the judiciary, and abusing power, adding that the administration’s “incompetence and lack of capacity to deliver” should be its primary concern, not alleged intimidation in Parliament.

He maintained that many Ghanaians now see the government’s “reset agenda” as an empty slogan and “a smokescreen” masking what he believes is worsening social, economic, and political conditions in the country.

Despite being numerically smaller in Parliament, Prof. Nyarko emphasised the strength and resolve of the NPP minority.

“Even though we are minute in size, we are mighty in strength. We can’t be intimidated,” he declared.

He concluded by reaffirming the minority’s commitment to its constitutional role.

“We shall continue to be the vanguard of our democracy, ensure the protection of the rule of law, individual liberties and freedoms, and the complete well-being of the citizenry,” he said.
