Bawumia Leads In 14 Regions – Latest Polls

Published:

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has extended his commanding lead in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries, according to a new nationwide survey released by Global Info Analytics.

The poll shows Dr. Bawumia leading in 14 out of Ghana’s 16 regions, demonstrating strong nationwide appeal as the party prepares to elect its next flagbearer. He continues to outperform his closest rival, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, as well as other aspirants including Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and Kwabena Agyei Agyapong.

The survey indicates that Dr. Bawumia holds commanding leads in key battleground regions:
• Ashanti Region
• Eastern Region
• Greater Accra Region

These three regions carry significant delegate strength and often shape the outcome of internal NPP elections.

“Dr. Bawumia leads in Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, Eastern, Greater Accra, North East, Northern, Oti, Savannah, Upper East, Upper West, Western and Western North.”

In the remaining two regions:
• Volta Region: Kennedy Agyapong leads.
• Central Region: The race is described as “virtually tied”.

Using two predictive models, the pollster found Dr. Bawumia ahead nationally.

Likely Voters’ Model
• Bawumia: 42.7%
• Kennedy Agyapong: 17.7%
• Dr. Bryan Acheampong: 4.6%
• Dr. Yaw Adutwum: 0.3%
• Kwabena Agyapong: 0.3%

Notably:
• 14.9% of delegates refused to disclose their preferred candidate
• 19.3% remain undecidedThis model, which focuses on respondents who say they are absolutely sure about their vote, shows an even wider gap:
• Bawumia: 63.3%
• Kennedy Agyapong: 28.6%
• Dr. Bryan Acheampong: 6.9%
• Dr. Yaw Adutwum: 0.8%
• Kwabena Agyapong: 0.4%

The survey suggests Dr. Bawumia maintains a firm grip on the race, particularly in delegate-heavy regions where victory is often decisive. Kennedy Agyapong retains pockets of strength but continues to trail significantly in national projections.
