Ato Forson Grants Indian Firm $10 Million Tax Waiver

Published:

Parliament has approved a tax waiver totaling $10.4 million for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Limited to support the rollout of the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS), a major pillar of government’s revenue modernization agenda.

The waiver covers a 20% withholding tax and Value Added Tax (VAT) on the company’s income throughout the project period. Officials say the incentive is aimed at reducing operational costs for the contractor and ensuring the smooth deployment of the nationwide tax administration platform.

Presenting the request to Parliament, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson disclosed that the Mahama-led administration renegotiated the original agreement, securing savings of $9 million for the state.

“The revised terms reflect government’s commitment to prudent fiscal management and to strengthening public-private partnerships in the revenue sector,” Dr Forson told lawmakers.
