Bawumia Mourns GAF Dead Recruits, Proposes Reforms

Former Vice President and 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed profound sorrow following the tragic incident at the El Wak Stadium that claimed the lives of several young Ghanaians during a Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise on Wednesday.

The incident has plunged the nation into grief, with families reeling from the sudden loss of loved ones. In a heartfelt statement, Dr. Bawumia extended condolences to the bereaved families and offered prayers for the injured.

“My condolences go out to the families of the young Ghanaians who lost their lives today at the El Wak Stadium. May the injured recover quickly, and the souls of our departed ladies rest in peace,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia described the tragedy as a painful reminder of the need for stronger safety protocols and improved crowd management at public events, particularly those that attract young people seeking opportunities.

He noted that the incident represents “a heartbreaking blow to families and the nation at large,” urging authorities to support the affected families and take concrete steps to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

“We must ensure that no Ghanaian life is lost under preventable circumstances,” Dr. Bawumia stressed.
