Choose Bawumia’s Rich ideas over money- Oti NPP

Published:

The Oti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Evans Yaw Dapaah, has appealed to party members in the region to prioritize competence and electability over monetary inducements as the party prepares to elect its flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

Speaking during Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign tour of the Oti Region on Friday, November 7, Mr. Dapaah cautioned delegates against being swayed by aspirants flaunting their wealth, emphasizing that the January 31, 2026, flagbearer contest should not be reduced to “who has more money to share.”

“Some of the aspirants have been going around bragging that they have money,” the Regional Chairman said. “This contest is not about how wealthy someone is, so please don’t fall for their deception.”

Mr. Dapaah urged NPP delegates to learn from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who, he said, have consistently backed President John Mahama based on loyalty and belief rather than financial incentives.

“The NDC believed in Mahama and backed him without considering money. I remember during their congress in 2022, Mahama offered delegates GH¢40 for transport, but they still voted massively for him,” he noted.

He described Dr. Bawumia as the most competent and marketable candidate capable of leading the NPP to victory in the next general elections, stressing that unity and strategic thinking were essential for the party’s comeback in 2028.

“The person we know and believe can bring power to the NPP in 2028 is Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” Mr. Dapaah declared. “He is the most marketed person who can bring us victory, so let us rally behind him and vote massively for him, just as the NDC did for Mahama — without being influenced by money.”

Dr. Bawumia’s campaign visit to the Oti Region forms part of his nationwide tour to engage grassroots members, regional executives, and delegates ahead of the party’s flagbearer election scheduled for January 31, 2026.
