Congregation of Prophet Nigel Gaisie Denies Illegal Connection claims by Ghana Water Company against Papa Osofo

Published:

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has disconnected the Prophetic Hill Chapel, led by Prophet Nigel Gaisie, from its water supply over an alleged outstanding debt of GH¢6,913 and the reported discovery of an illegal reconnection at the church’s Dome premises.

The disconnection exercise, carried out on Wednesday, October 9, 2025, was conducted by officials from the Accra East Regional Office of the GWCL with the support of police officers.

According to the Communications Manager for the Accra East Region, Nana Yaw Barima Barnie, the move followed the church’s failure to settle its arrears after being initially disconnected, only for officials to later discover that water supply had been illegally restored.

“They found a way of getting water back into the premises. The meter, which is the only instrument we install in customers’ premises to measure water consumption, had been removed. It is illegal,” Mr. Barnie said.

He described the act as a “serious offence,” emphasizing that illegal reconnections undermine the company’s operations and contribute to revenue losses.

“We disconnected the Prophet Nigel Gaisie, went back and found that reconnection had taken place and the meter could not be found so we had to disconnect again,” he explained.

Mr. Barnie added that Prophet Nigel Gaisie has been invited by the company to report to their offices to settle the debt and clarify the circumstances surrounding the missing meter.

“He owes GH¢6,913. When he comes, we will tell him what is to be done. Many people have taken the Ghana Water Company for granted for too long, and we are not taking that anymore,” he warned.

In response, members of the Prophetic Hill Chapel have denied allegations of an illegal reconnection, insisting that the church has not engaged in any wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, journalists who attempted to cover the disconnection exercise were prevented from filming by members of the prophet’s team, while Prophet Nigel Gaisie declined to comment directly on the matter.

The Ghana Water Company has in recent months stepped up nationwide disconnection operations, targeting both residential and commercial customers who default on payments or engage in illegal connections.

Prophet Nigel Gaisie, known for his high-profile prophecies and large congregation, is yet to issue a formal statement on the development.
