Fuel Prices to Rise Again from Tuesday — COPEC

Published:

Fuel prices in Ghana are set to rise from Tuesday, with consumers expected to pay more for petrol, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), according to the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC).

In its latest projections, COPEC said petrol prices will increase by 4% to an average of GH¢13.61 per litre, up from GH¢13.09. Diesel will see a sharper jump of 9.4%, climbing from GH¢13.32 to GH¢14.08 per litre, while LPG will rise by 7.6% to GH¢12.52 per kilogram.

The chamber explained that the upward adjustments were driven mainly by the 8.6% depreciation of the cedi against the U.S. dollar during the current pricing window, which outweighed a marginal 0.5% drop in global crude oil prices.

“The various Oil Marketing Companies should absorb part of these upward adjustments to avoid overburdening consumers,” COPEC Executive Secretary Duncan Amoah appealed in a statement.
