Ghana Records 21 New Mpox Cases, Total Hits 467 Nationwide

Published:

Ghana has confirmed 21 new cases of Mpox, pushing the country’s cumulative tally to 467 as of August 28, 2025, according to the latest situation report from the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The report indicated that the death toll remains at one, with no current hospital admissions. All 16 regions have so far recorded cases, raising concern over the continued spread of the virus across the country.

Health authorities have yet to provide a clear timeline for the arrival of vaccines that Ghana has secured to support the national campaign against the disease.

Mpox, a viral illness, spreads mainly through close contact with an infected person. Symptoms include fever, headaches, rash, and body pains.

The GHS has advised the public to observe good hygiene practices and seek immediate medical attention if they develop any symptoms associated with the virus.

The rising number of cases underscores the urgency of vaccination and sustained public health education to curb further transmission.
