Police Arrest Two Over TikTok Comments Against President Mahama and First Lady

The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into a TikTok video containing threats against President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Police said the viral video, which has attracted widespread attention on social media, contained remarks considered a threat to the safety of the President and his spouse.

Two individuals, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, have been arrested in connection with the case and are currently assisting investigators. Authorities say they are working to identify and apprehend other persons believed to have been involved in producing and circulating the video.

“So far, two people, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, are in Police custody assisting the ongoing investigation, while efforts are underway to get other persons believed to be connected to the video to assist the investigation,” the Police statement read.

The Police Service reiterated its commitment to protecting the President, the First Lady, and all citizens, urging the public to refrain from making or sharing statements that could incite violence or disturb public peace.
