Wontumi condemns unwarranted insults against Kufuor by Mahama’s aides and Alan’s qualms.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, has condemned what he describes as orchestrated insults against former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Chairman Wontumi claims that individuals allegedly sponsored by former President John Mahama are behind the unwarranted insults aimed at tarnishing the legacy of Mr. Kufuor, a leader widely celebrated for his remarkable contributions to Ghana’s development.

His remarks follow recent criticism from Dela Edem, an aide to Mr. Mahama, and Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change (MFC). Notably, Mr. Kyerematen accused Mr. Kufuor of partisanship for endorsing NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“Kufuor’s achievements speak for themselves and are evident for all to see. What has he done to deserve such disrespect? It is deeply disappointing to see individuals being sponsored to insult and tarnish the reputation of others. As Ghanaians, we must reject the politics of insults and uphold the values that define us as a nation”, Wontumi stated during a press conference on Thursday (21 November).

He also expressed particular disappointment with Alan Kyerematen, describing his remarks as a betrayal of Mr. Kufuor, who previously entrusted him with significant roles, including an ambassadorial position and the Trade Minister portfolio.

He further speculated about possible motives behind Mr. Kyerematen’s actions, questioning whether former President Mahama might be supporting the creation of a new party to divide votes.

“Whatever the case, Asanteman has spoken, and I urge all Ghanaians to unite and vote massively on 7 December for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.”

“Dr. Bawumia represents unity and civility, essential qualities for the nation’s progress. He does not engage in divisive politics or encourage insults”, Wontumi said urging Ghanaians to rally behind him and reject the seeds of discord being sown by others.

“Let us come together and support a leader who prioritizes unity and national development,” he further stated.
