Former Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Agyapong, has said he has no justification to criticize President John Mahama’s administration barely ten months into its second term.
Speaking in an interview on Spear FM in Damongo, the outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful dismissed allegations that his decision to refrain from attacking the Mahama government stems from financial interests linked to outstanding government contracts.
“I won’t criticize Mahama. I’m focusing on my primaries,” he emphasized. “I’m not saying that when there is something wrong, we should not say it, but me, I’m focusing on my primaries.”
“I have heard they are saying I’m not attacking Mahama because government owes me and I want to be paid and that is why I’m not criticizing Mahama’s government,” Agyapong said. “Ten months in government, and what do you expect Mahama to do that you want me to criticize him? We have to be fair.”
The former MP argued that it would be unreasonable to judge the performance of the Mahama administration at such an early stage, adding humorously, “Ten months, even if it was cassava you planted, it would not have been ready for harvesting.”
