The delegation was led by Rev. Enoch Nii Narh Thompson, who conveyed the Council’s goodwill and congratulations after Dr Bawumia’s election as the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Dr Bawumia described the visit as a privilege and extended appreciation for the prayers and encouragement offered by the Christian leaders.
“I am truly thankful for their prayers and kind words, and I look forward to continued collaboration with faith-based institutions in service to Ghana,” he stated.
The engagement underscores the role of faith-based organisations in Ghana’s socio-political landscape, particularly in areas of social cohesion, governance advocacy, and national development.
The Christian Council of Ghana is one of the country’s prominent ecumenical bodies, representing various Christian denominations and often engaging national leaders on issues of governance, peace, and development.
Dr Bawumia’s meeting with the Council forms part of ongoing interactions between political leaders and religious institutions ahead of the 2028 elections, as parties position themselves and seek broader stakeholder engagement.
