Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia kicked off a crucial phase of his “Our Journey Together” campaign in the Central Region, a politically strategic battleground expected to play a decisive role in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2028 flagbearer primary.
The Central Region holds particular significance for the former Vice President’s campaign because it is the home region of one of his leading contenders, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former MP for Assin Central.
During his interactions with party delegates on Monday, Dr Bawumia received strong assurances of support. According to local party leaders, many delegates have “already declared him winner” of the upcoming flagbearer race, signalling early momentum for his campaign.
As the NPP heads toward its crucial January vote, Dr Bawumia’s tour is expected to intensify engagement with delegates whose decisions will significantly influence the party’s direction heading into the 2028 general elections.
