Former Vice President and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2028 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has received two of his fellow contestants in the party’s recent flagbearer race at his residence in Accra as part of ongoing efforts to promote unity within the party.
Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, former Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, and Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a former General Secretary of the NPP and flagbearer aspirant, paid separate courtesy visits to Dr. Bawumia following the party’s presidential primary.
Dr. Bawumia emerged victorious in the contest, securing 56.48 per cent of the valid votes cast during the primaries held on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
After publicly conceding defeat, placing telephone calls to congratulate Dr. Bawumia, and addressing party faithful during the official declaration of results at the NPP headquarters, the two party stalwarts proceeded to visit the flagbearer at his residence.
Dr. Adutwum visited on Sunday, while Mr. Agyepong, accompanied by his wife, called on Dr. Bawumia on Monday morning.
During the visits, the two reiterated their congratulations and pledged their loyalty and support to the party’s cause under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership. Dr. Bawumia, in turn, expressed appreciation for their gesture and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity within the party ahead of the 2028 general election.
The residence of the former Vice President has since seen a steady flow of party members, friends, family and well-wishers who have been calling to congratulate him following his victory in the primaries.
